Tracheophyta - Gefässpflanzen
>> Tree of Life <<-x- Vegetation ecology - Vegetationsökologie
Classification below follows, for the most part, Fischer & al., Exkursionsflora A/FL/SüdT (2008 3rd: 169ff) which is avoiding taxa incertae sedis; see also more traditional classifications like Strasburger (Angiospermophytina only), Wettstein, Enger and others. The model here will be updated only marginally, for changes in classification and especially for the latest phylogenetic models please search the web (Wiki might be a good starting point - English and German version).
-x- Pteridophyta (divisio - Abteilung): Ferns and allies - Gefässsporenpflanzen

-x-.- Cycadophyt(in)a + Gnetophyt(in)a ((sub?)-divisio - (Unter?)-Abteilung): Cycads - Fieder-Nacktsamer
Some more exotic taxa with disputed classification, like Ephedra (also present in Europe), Welwitschia (Namib desert, Africa), Cycas (tropical), and some more.
-x-.- Angiospermophytina (subdivisio - Unterabteilung): Flowering plants - Bedecktsamer
-x-.-x- Magnoliopsida s. strictiss. (classis - Klasse): Dicots - Einfurchenpollen-Zweikeimblättrige

-x-.-x- Rosopsida (classis - Klasse): Dicots - Dreifurchenpollen-Zweikeimblättrige
-x-.-x-.- Ranunculidae (subclassis - Unterklasse): Hahnenfusspflanzen
A group of few families only, of which especially Ranunculaceae are however rich in taxa.
-x-.-x-.- Trochodendridae (subclassis - Unterklasse): Radbaumpflanzen
Platanus, Nelumbo and Buxus are planted in Austria, none of them however is native; it is a small subgroup also considering worldwide distribution.
-x-.-x-.- Caryophyllidae s. lat. (subclassis - Unterklasse): Nelkenpflanzen iwS
Biggest group in Europe are Caryophyllaceae and Polygonaceae, but it also includes cacti and many carnivorous plants, of which some are also native in Europe (e. g. Drosera).
-x-.-x-.- Rosidae s. lat. (subclassis - Unterklasse): Rosenpflanzen iwS
A big group which includes, besides Rosa, morphologically extremely diverse taxa like Sedum, Vitis, Geranium, Viola, Fagus, Ulmus, Dictamnus, Helianthemum and many more.
-x-.-x-.- Asteridae (subclassis - Unterklasse): Asternpflanzen (iwS)
A huge group with a range from Cornus, Erica, Primula, Gentiana and many more to Lamiaceae and Asteraceae proper.
-x-.-x- Liliopsida (classis - Klasse): Monocots - Einkeimblättrige
-x-.-x-.- Alismatidae (subclassis - Unterklasse): Froschlöffelpflanzen iwS
Many of those are aquatic but some aren't (e. g. Arum).
-x-.-x-.- Liliidae (subclassis - Unterklasse): Lilienpflanzen
The 'lilies group proper', so to speak.
-x-.-x-.- Commelinidae (subclassis - Unterklasse): Commelinenpflanzen
